Vernon L. Farmer, 71, of 10 McGibney Rd. died suddenly on May 16, 1993, after an apparent heart attack. He was born Sept. 28, 1921, in St. Louisville to Cary F. and Myrtle (Lee) Farmer. A resident of Mount Vernon most of his life, he was a retired mechanic for Westenbarger & Sons. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, and a member of the Eagles Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Frances (Lovett) Farmer, two daughters, Karen Lamb or Florida and Bonnie Shellnut of Texas; two stepdaughters, Mary Lawrence of Florida and Connie Dillon of Mount Vernon; one stepson, Joe Lovett of Mount Vernon; numerous grandchildren and great-grand children; several great-great grandchildren; his mother, Myrtle Duncan of Buckeye Lake; one brother, Lowell Farmer of Florida; and three sisters, Dorothy P. Ridgeway of Newark, Jean B. Farmer of Buckeye Lake and Beulah M. Hoadley of Tennessee. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

There will be no calling hours. Graveside military service will be conducted on Wednesday at 1 p. m. in the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Lynn Snider will officiate. The Grohe Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knox County Branch, American Heart Association, P.O. Box 334, Mount Vernon 43050.
